HONOR-DAY Ceremony @ Bates Memorial Stadium
When the Tropical Storm was headed our way last week, the decision was made that for the Safety of the public, the Memorial Day Remembrance that was to be held at Bates Memorial Stadium would be moved to this Saturday at 10:00. Since the original purpose of the Memorial Day Remembrance when it was started here in 2014 was to have a Ceremony actually ON the Day itself, it was decided to add a twist to the event. It will STILL Honor the Military, but will also honor the other group of people who run TOWARDS danger when other run AWAY. This is our local 1st Responders. All 1st Responders and their families are invited to attend the Ceremony where they will be recognized, fed and given small tokens of our appreciation. The Public is invited so that we may show our Respect for these individuals who, like the Military, are daily placing themselves in harm’s way for our sake. When you see a member of the Police, Fire, or Sheriff Department, please also acknowledge them by saying “THANK YOU for your dedication”.
The program Master of Ceremonies will be Local Legend Charlie Platt, a well know Media Personality. Pastor Lister Reeves and Trevor Woolridge will be giving the Opening and Closing Prayers along with their Messages. Sheriff Dave Sutton, who has experience in both of the groups that we are Honoring will be one of the Keynote Speakers. Alabama Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker of Montgomery will be the other Keynote Speaker. The event will start with an old fashioned sing-a-long of Patriotic songs led by St. Luke Choir Director Roy Hoobler.
A few of our Sponsors and Supporters are the American Legion Family, the Enterprise Civitan Club, Hand Up Enterprise, WoodmenLife, and the Enterprise Parks & Recreation.
